Does the tank need to be replaced, or can it be relined?
Not every aging tank needs to be replaced immediately. In many cases, the right next step is to inspect the tank, understand the condition of the lining and fittings, and determine whether maintenance, repair, or relining can safely extend its life.
If the tank is structurally compromised, replacement may be necessary. But if the tank body is sound and the main issue is interior lining deterioration, relining may be a practical way to extend service life and reduce capital pressure.
Replacement may be an option when
The tank body is structurally compromised
The tank cannot be safely repaired
Replacement would be costly or disruptive
The tank can be safely taken out of service
Access or condition makes relining impractical
There are severe leaks or failures
Replacement may be needed when
Deterioration is primarily interior lining failure
The tank body is still sound
